Amazon Referral Fee Changes

Hey sellers!

You may have heard that Amazon is making changes to the referral fees for certain categories. Have you made any adjustments to your pricing? As a reminder, below are the changes. If you are a current seller on Amazon, you should have received an email and a notification in SellerCentral as well.

  • Shoes, handbags, sunglasses
    • 15% up to a $75 sales price
    • 18% on $75+ sales price
  • Clothing & accessories – Shirts, pants, jackets, etc.
    • 17% of the total sales price, with a minimum of $1
  • Jewelry
    • 20% of the total sales price, with a minimum of $2

What do you think about these changes? Amazon’s commission has long been a sticking point with sellers who complain that Amazon charges more to sell a product than their own marketing would cost. At the same point, the vast majority of us will never get the amount of traffic that Amazon gets every day. Are these changes going to going to impact your margins? Will they make you rethink
