Etsy Google Product Listing Ads to Include More Sellers

Marketplace extends participation to English-language listings that ship to U.S.

Etsy will allow some of its international sellers to be in the Google Product Listing Ads the company will buy on behalf of its merchants, the site announced Thursday.

Earlier last week, Etsy reported it will invest $250,000 in Google Product Listing Ads, paid ads that display in Google Shopping. Etsy hopes the move will prevent its sellers from missing out on buyer traffic as Google Product Search retires and the paid Google Shopping takes its place. In its earlier announcement, Etsy said it would only include U.S. sellers in the ads because of Google’s country-specific restrictions.

However, after working “closely with Google,” the company now says it will expand the ads to English-language listings that ship to the U.S., not just U.S. sellers, reports Frank Harris, an Etsy product manager, in a revised version of his initial announcement.

This should make several sellers happy, as many noted in a thread about the ads that they wished international merchants would also benefit from Etsy’s investment.
