Amazon UK to Require 30-Day Return Policy

Change meant to provide 'best experience' for shoppers.

Amazon U.K. wants shoppers to have a “consistent” experience when they shop on the venue, whether it’s from the retail giant itself or a third-party Amazon seller.

That’s why it will begin requiring that all third-party sellers on Amazon U.K. offer “return policies that are at least as favorable as Amazon’s,” beginning Aug. 6. This seems to imply that sellers will have to have a 30-day return policy, Amazon’s current return policy, as stated on this page. The page notes that items must be returned in the “best possible condition.”

Amazon told merchants about the change in an email, adding that it will update information in sellers’ Returns sections on Aug. 6, so their return policies are in line with Amazon’s. The updated policies will point buyers to Amazon’s return policy in case shoppers have questions, but will continue to allow shoppers to contact individual sellers “about any more favorable policies that may apply,” Amazon adds.

The change is meant to “provide the best experience for buyers,” according to the email. Sellers who have questions are encouraged to contact Amazon U.K.’s Seller Support Team.
