With the opening ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympics on the horizon—and several road closures expected during the games—Amazon wants buyers and sellers to know it’s prepared for potential disruptions.
“We have worked closely with our carrier network to ensure that you receive your packages on time, from the moment the torch arrives in London… until the closure of Olympic Park on [Sept. 14],” Amazon states in FAQs regarding the summer games and deliveries.
Carriers that deliver Amazon shipments have planned for potential disruptions road closures may cause, and will use “a variety of different methods to ensure your usual delivery service continues, including employing more staff, bicycle routes and foot deliveries,” Amazon adds.
In addition, 25 Amazon lockers will be placed throughout London for buyers to pick up shipments, if they live in an address that will be hard to access because of the games.
The retailer also tells customers that many of its normal delivery options will be available as usual for the duration of the games. These include Free Super Saver Delivery, First Class, One-Day Delivery and Free One-Day Delivery with Amazon Prime. However, Express Delivery and Evening Deliveries will be reduced in some areas.
