GSI Commerce, Fireswirl Focus on China

Partnership aims to give online retailers and brands better access to Chinese consumers.

GSI Commerce and Fireswirl Technologies have formed a partnership that will aim to help GSI clients enter China’s online marketplace.

GSI, an e-commerce service owned by eBay, serves more than 1,000 retailers and brands, worldwide. It believes there is “tremendous growth potential” in China, based on the strong interest in leading international brands among Chinese consumers. GSI is hoping to provide easy access to these desired retailers.

Fireswirl has an established e-commerce platform in China that helps brands operate online shops in the nation.

“GSI wants to facilitate its clients’ speed to market in China, and our partnership with Fireswirl allows us and our clients to achieve that goal quickly and efficiently,” says Tobias Hartmann, CEO of Global Operations at GSI.

The partnership has already launched a website for a major U.S. retailer on Taobao Mall, China’s leading business-to-consumer online retail site, GSI reports.
