A new auction site that allows sellers to control their own “fast-paced, customizable auctions” launched on Thursday.
At the new site, Outbid , merchants can open an account with their name, contact information and PayPal email address. Then they can create auctions with titles, photos and a description of the items that will be featured in the auctions.
Then they can choose whether to run their own auctions, let an auctioneer run the sales, or set bidding on “autopilot,” the site notes.
Outbid is unlike any other auction site, notes Bob Lee, the company’s chief product officer.
“It combines the thrill and excitement of going to a live auction with gaming and social elements not found anywhere else,” he says.
Outbid draws attention to some of its auctions by featuring them on its home page with a countdown to the start of the sales. Buyers can RSVP to attend these sales, and sellers can also invite friends to the real-time auctions, the site notes.
Copart, a company that sells cars, funds Outbid, according to news reports.
