PayPal executive Eric Salvatierra was killed Friday morning when he was struck by a commuter train in Menlo Park, CA, roughly 18 miles from PayPal’s San Jose campus.
Caltrain is reportedly still investigating the matter.
As of press time, no official statement had been issued by PayPal or eBay, which owns PayPal.
Salvatierra, 39, was PayPal’s vice president of customer advocacy and operational excellence. According to his LinkedIn profile, he joined eBay in 1998 and served in various finance roles, becoming vice president of site risk management and fraud prevention in 2002. After eBay acquired Skype in 2005, he served as the unit’s vice president and chief financial officer until 2007.
Salvatierra leaves behind a wife and three children.
