Etsy Browse Pages Add Pinterest Feel

Themes replace categories for 'at a glance' shopping experience.

Etsy visitors may notice the marketplace looks a little different these days. That’s because Etsy changed the way shoppers browse the site, making the experience theme based—not category based, like it had been—in hopes of providing a better shopping experience. Etsy is making changes to its Search Ads—which sellers can buy to have their items display at the tops of search results—in hopes of a good selling season for its merchants. Etsy Google Product Listing Ads to Include More Sellers

Etsy will allow some of its international sellers to be in the Google Product Listing Ads the company will buy on behalf of its merchants, the site announced Thursday. Marketplace will cover up to $1,000 in event of dispute.

Changes Ahead for Etsy Marketplace

Site will remove 3-day hold on funds, add processing times and wholesale marketplace.

Etsy sellers who use direct checkout and have been selling on the site for at least three months will get their money sooner. That was just one of the announcements Etsy made this week concerning changes coming to the marketplace. It also reports that, in about a week, sellers will be able to add processing times, or ship-by dates, to their listings, and that down the road they’ll have access to a new wholesale marketplace called Esty Wholesale. Etsy to Introduce Gift Cards

New feature is the first to be incorporated into direct checkout.

Etsy announced it will offer gift cards—a popular holiday present—starting in October as the first feature built into its direct checkout. Shoppers will be able to redeem gift cards only when they pay for items through direct checkout.
