eBay Unveils New Logo
More contemporary design better represents company, exec says.
The season will soon be changing—and so will eBay’s logo.
Devin Wenig, president of Marketplaces, introduced the site’s new logo today. He describes the logo as a “cleaner” and “more contemporary” design that is “rooted in our proud history and reflects a dynamic future.”
The look keeps the old logo’s signature colors: red, blue, yellow and green, but makes them more rounded and takes away the overlapping letters of the current eBay logo. Read More

Catalog meant to streamline listing process for eBay sellers.
eBay sellers who list in select electronics categories must now list their items using the eBay catalog if the product they’re selling is included in the catalog.

Optional feature for Top-rated Sellers meant to streamline returns.
eBay’s managed returns platform, also known as the eBay returns center, launched publicly to Top-rated Sellers on Tuesday.

Etsy to Introduce Gift Cards
New feature is the first to be incorporated into direct checkout.
Etsy announced it will offer gift cards—a popular holiday present—starting in October as the first feature built into its direct checkout.
Shoppers will be able to redeem gift cards only when they pay for items through direct checkout. Direct checkout launched in February and allows buyers to pay for products without leaving the site, writes Natalie Schwartz, an Etsy product manager, in a blog post. Read More

eBay, Verisk Partners in Crime Analytics
Companies will share data to fight retail crime, fraud and theft.
eBay is teaming with a provider of risk assessment solutions to fight retail crime, counterfeiting and online fraud.
Verisk Crime Analytics announced eBay’s partnership with its Law Enforcement Retail Partnership Network on Tuesday. It reports that the two companies will work on developing ways to share and use data to provide retailers and police with “crime fighting analytics.”
Each company will have staff working on these, but no details were given about what analytics will focus on. Read More
