A software issue that removed thousands of eBay listings on Wednesday has been resolved.
The glitch impacted about 10,000 total merchants in the United States, Germany, United Kingdom and Australia, removing their listings from the site, according to a post in eBay’s General Announcements.
Johnna Hoff, an eBay spokeswoman, adds that some listings were temporarily hidden from search.
“The hidden listings are now restored to view,” she says. “The listings that were ended are in the process of being relisted. This will not have any adverse impact on sellers’ standing in Best Match search or seller feedback or standards, and it will not cause duplicate listings for sellers who have already relisted any items on their own. We will keep sellers apprised of our progress and apologize for any inconvenience resulting from this issue.”
No time was given for when the glitch was first reported. However, one seller on an eBay forum notes his listings were removed around noon on Wednesday.
Another seller reports having 254 listings taken down.
“I was told not to relist because [eBay] may be able to post the listing back in the system just the way they were,” the merchant writes in the thread. “… It is so frustrating, but what can we do? “
