Merchants selling on Etsy can now list items on the go with the latest update to the Etsy iPhone app.
The update, released today, allows sellers to take photos, add tags, choose shipping profiles and list items to the marketplace right from their phones. It also makes the Etsy iPhone app available in Dutch, French, German and British English.
Natalie Schwartz, a product marketing manager at Etsy, says supporting more languages will bring more buyers to the marketplace, and make managing listings easier for more sellers. And being able to post and manage listings from a mobile device should also make a lot of sellers happy.
“Since we launched the first iPhone app—and added Shop Stats back in May—sellers have been requesting more functionality to allow them to manage their shops,” she continues. “…Now that sellers can upload and modify listings directly through the Etsy app, it’s possible to manage an Etsy shop for weeks on end, without ever turning on a computer. We hope this will make it easier for sellers to keep up with holiday demand, and we can’t wait to see the new mobile listings pour in.”

The updates to the Etsy iPhone app come just in time for the holidays, which could be a very busy time for mobile buyers. Adam Brown, Etsy’s press manager, notes that during last year’s Thanksgiving weekend, mobile shopping was up 350 percent compared to 2010.
“Based on trends this year to date, mobile shopping on Etsy will continue to increase as a source of traffic this holiday season,” he says.
He adds that one in four visits to Etsy come from a mobile device—that’s up from one in five in May. And visitors aren’t just browsing. They’re buying. In fact, one in five Etsy sales come from mobile devices, with Sunday being the busiest days for mobile visits.
The Etsy iPhone app is available at the App Store.
