Hurricane Isaac Could Disrupt Trade

eBay urges patience in transactions with Gulf Coast buyers, sellers.

eBay is asking buyers and sellers to be patient if they’re buying from or selling to someone on the Gulf Coast, an area affected by Hurricane Isaac.

Hurricane Isaac has left many thousands in the dark. eBay notes in a post on its Announcements page that the storm’s impact may delay communication between parties, and could disrupt deliveries.

Hurricane Isaac has affected parts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas. The New York Times reports that more than 600,000 people in Louisiana were without power today. News reports describe the hurricane as “slow moving but powerful,” causing strong winds and heavy rain. Flooding has caused some areas to be evacuated.

At its strongest, Hurricane Isaac’s winds reached 80 mph, but they were expected to weaken as the hurricane moves inland. Rain was expected to continue into tonight.

“We will continue to monitor these conditions and will reach out as necessary to [eBay] members who may become affected,” eBay states.
