eBay Marketplaces Hires VP of Strategy

Former Google exec brings 'digital commerce' experience.

eBay Marketplaces has a new vice president of Strategy—and he’s a former Google exec, officials announced on Wednesday.

Paul Todd began working at eBay in July, according to his LinkedIn profile. He has a “deep experience across digital commerce,” coming from Rearden Commerce, an e-commerce applications company, McKinsey & Company, a management consulting firm, and Google, eBay notes.

Todd worked at Google for nearly four years, leaving in September 2010 to go to Rearden Commerce, where he was chief product officer until July, according to his LinkedIn profile.

eBay notes that during Todd’s time at Google, he began several “product offerings,” and developed and executed Google’s strategy in the travel industry. It adds that Todd’s efforts led to the acquisition of ITA Software—a $700 million deal.

“He was also instrumental in Google’s $100 billion revenue plan, which drove Google’s prioritization and investments,” eBay continues.

Todd’s profile states that he is passionate about building Internet products and businesses.
