Etsy Favorites to Show on Facebook

New feature allows users to automatically share favorite items.

A new feature on artisan marketplace Etsy allows shoppers to automatically post the items they like most on their Facebook Timelines.

Etsy added this feature earlier this week, according to Laura Hood, Etsy’s product marketing manager, in a blog post. Etsy’s FAQs note that when the feature is enabled, every time a user “favorites” an item he or she sees on Etsy, that item will automatically appear on his or her Facebook Timeline and in friends’ newsfeeds.

The feature will not post favorite shops or treasuries, or a seller’s own products, Hood notes, adding that favorites will only appear on personal pages, not on Facebook business pages.

Users can enable the feature by accessing Settings under the Account tab and clicking to connect with Facebook. There, they’ll be able to mark a box to share favorites on their Timelines. Users can uncheck the box at any time to stop automatically posting items, Etsy reports.

Hood encourages Etsy users to test out the feature.

“Millions of Etsy items have been added to favorites and shared across the marketplace,” she notes. “Yet, time and time again, we hear friends ask, ‘Where did you find that?’ Now you can answer before the question’s asked by adding your Etsy favorites to your Facebook Timeline.”
