Lovers of homemade goods seem to love buying and selling on the go, spurring 1 million downloads of Etsy’s mobile app just four months after its debut.
The marketplace for artisans announced the achievement on Friday, adding that use of the Etsy for iPhone app is spreading fast.
“Not only has a world of iPhone users downloaded the app, they have then proceeded to use the heck out of it,” notes Michelle Traub, one of the editors of the Etsy Blog. “With 25 [percent] to 60 percent growth in visits month-over-month since its release, and an average of 30 pageviews per visit, Etsy for iPhone has developed into quite the social butterfly.”
The popular app lets shoppers browse and buy the more than 11 million items from artisans around the world on Etsy, and it lets sellers access their listings, view their latest orders and manage their sales on the go, according to the app’s description.
Jey Biddulph, an Etsy user, developed the app, Etsy notes, adding that Biddulph has now joined the Etsy team. Etsy plans to develop more apps. In fact, the site plans to launch an Android app and, as the blog post notes, is in the market for Android developers.
Buyers and sellers can download the free Etsy for iPhone app on iTunes.
