eBay Motors released a new version of its mobile app that makes finding the car or part you need as easy as taking a photo, eBay announced on Friday.
The updated app makes typing in the search field unnecessary. Now shoppers simply need to take a photo of the car or part they’re looking for in order to search for it on the marketplace, eBay reports. The app also allows buyers to get live streaming of exclusive content, including exclusive races for eBay Motors and exclusive auctions.
Users will also notice that the app provides them with notifications when they’ve been outbid, when a listing they’re watching is ending and updates on the current Best Offer for an item. iOS 5 users will additionally be able to share items they’re buying or selling on Twitter, eBay notes.
The enhancements “enable auto fans to further simplify their shopping experience, make sharing with their friends more seamless, and access entertaining and informative original content right from their smartphones,” eBay says.
“Car lovers have embraced mobile shopping with 127,000 parts and 2,800 cars sold each week worldwide through eBay mobile applications alone,” notes Steve Yankovich, eBay’s vice president of mobile. “We are enhancing this experience with entertaining original content and Vehicle Finder image search. The eBay Motors app is a one-stop destination for auto fans, from their next purchase to behind-the-scenes footage of a raceway event, whether they are at home or on the go.”
The app is available for download.
